Investments in cutting-edge tooling and test center drive growth for global healthcare innovators

GERMANTOWN, Wisc. (April 25, 2024) – a global leader in healthcare end-to-end engineering and manufacturing solutions, is proud to announce the completion of significant upgrades to its Lynge, Denmark engineering facility to complete its transformation into a state-of-the-art tooling facility. The two-phased upgrades of the MGS Lynge facility, previously Winther Mould Technology A/S, began shortly following the company’s acquisition in 2023.

Transforming the Lynge facility from a traditional moldmaker into a best-in-class European toolmaker involved strategic investments in processes, equipment and technology advancements in accordance with MGS’ global tooling standards. This state-of-the-art campus features 4,000 square meters of production space dedicated to early supplier involvement (ESI), design for manufacturability (DFM), Fast-Track pilot tooling, production tool development and enhanced metrology systems.

At MGS Lynge, teams now have access to expanded machining capabilities with 5-axis laser texturing and high-speed milling as well as automated robotic handling. With the facility upgrades, the Lynge team will be able to accelerate production while maximizing capacity and ensuring exceptional quality, which is essential for the company’s Pharma, Diagnostics and MedTech customers.

MGS President and CEO Paul Manley stated, “Through strategic acquisitions of companies like Winther Mould Technology, we are building capacity to bring advanced technologies to global innovators who require precision tooling for critical innovations that improve lives. The upgrades to this facility allow us to enhance the team’s existing capabilities and expertise while standardizing processes to facilitate collaboration across our global engineering teams.”

The second phase of the facility upgrades will bring updates to the 3,000-square-meter Innovation and Test Center that houses first off tool (FOT), design of experiment (DOE), validation, transfer and pilot production. Customers will be able to access plug-and-play space for validation with injection molding machines ranging from 50-300 metric tons. Work is expected to start on phase two in May and be completed in October.

“Building on Winther Mould’s rich history as a premier healthcare tooling manufacturer while transforming into a state-of-the-art facility has been an exciting endeavor,” said Ken Hansen, production director at MGS Lynge. We are proud to be part of MGS’ continued efforts to be a world-class healthcare manufacturer from upfront product design and development through final production.”

Product Development & Design, Tooling, and Automation Teams Offer Unmatched Depth & Experience

GERMANTOWN, Wisc. (January 31, 2024) – is pleased to announce the launch of its Global Engineering Services Group which brings together more than 85 engineers and 200 toolmakers globally, enabling Pharma, Diagnostic and MedTech innovators to quickly take healthcare projects from napkin sketch to validated product, process, and production cell setup. This follows on the heels of planned strategic acquisitions to increase the company’s front-end engineering skills and global capacity across North America and Europe.

According to Paul Manley, MGS President & CEO, “Our Global Engineering Services Group is a critical link in meeting growing demand from leading healthcare companies for holistic manufacturing solutions from concept through delivery. We know from our roots in toolmaking that world-class manufacturing is dependent on early product development and design that supports innovative tooling and automation solutions with early insights into the production process.”

Product development and design engineers draw on competencies in R&D, regulatory compliance, quality, and project management to achieve faster time-to-market and significantly reduced risk with a seamless transition to tooling. Setting the benchmark in technology and moldmaking innovations, MGS’ global tooling team successfully delivers hundreds of precision injection molds each year with capacity to quickly scale large programs.

The company’s global tooling capacity expanded to more than 200 toolmakers through recent acquisitions in Europe. In Europe alone, more than 120 skilled toolmakers and mold designers in Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and Belgium give customers local and regional access to MGS’ unmatched tooling capacity. Tools and molding processes are validated in dedicated centers in Denmark and the U.S where ISO 13485-certified environments offer “plug and play” space for customer injection molding machines and automation setup.

A unique area of expertise and craftsmanship for MGS, custom automation technologies leverage decades of manufacturing experience to create and design scalable automation solutions that drive robust and quality-controlled manufacturing processes to deliver and maximize ROI. End-of-arm tooling (EOAT), proof-of-concept, press-side, decoupled indexing, and continuous motion systems round out MGS’ full scope of automation solutions.

“The success of our Engineering Services Group is really measured in our ability to manufacture the highly critical, high-precision products that leading Pharma, Diagnostic and MedTech companies count on to gain a competitive advantage,” Manley said. “This means driving manufacturing productivity, repeatability, and cost savings. We can only achieve that manufacturing goal when product design, tooling and automation set us up to accomplish it. That’s why I’m so excited to see the impact that this new global engineering services group will have on customer outcomes.”

The brand launch follows strategic acquisitions of leading European toolmaker Formteknik, Danish Product Development & Design firm Technolution, and Winther Mould Technology, a Danish healthcare tooling manufacturer. Coupled with enhancements to its state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing operations in Ireland, Mexico and the United States, MGS can now deliver more high-volume, highly complex healthcare programs globally with greater speed than ever before.

This space for upfront development gives customers the ability to move with speed and precision to meet demanding timelines. MGS also continues to evaluate opportunities to serve customers in new locations – including the exploration of a new facility in Costa Rica.

“I’ve had the privilege of being part of MGS for more than 25 years and have experienced first-hand the breakthrough innovations that define this company. MGS’ new brand announces that we’re going to keep this momentum going – not just in our manufacturing and product innovations, but in the innovative ways customers can access our unique expertise and end-to-end solutions from every MGS location. That’s the future we’re producing. That’s the future healthcare innovators need to bridge the gap between imagination and realization,” Manley concluded.

Partnership creates a unique position in the global healthcare value chain.

GERMANTOWN, WI (June 6, 2023) – 91첥. Group, Inc. (MGS), a global provider of integrated manufacturing solutions for complex, high-precision plastic components for Healthcare and Pharma applications, announced today that it has acquired Denmark-based Technolution A/S (Technolution), a fast-growing consultancy and development company within Pharma and MedTech. This partnership establishes a position unique in the industry’s value chain—providing a seamless, vertically integrated solution from initial design ideation to final product delivery.

The acquisition brings together Technolution’s proven expertise in R&D, regulatory compliance, quality, and project management with MGS’ proven expertise in tooling, molding and automation for high-quality Drug Delivery Devices, Diagnostics and more. By combining forces, Technolution and MGS mitigate project risks for their clients, and create an approach that streamlines the supply chain and accelerates time-to-market.

“Extending our offerings into the early stages of product development takes us to the next level of medical contract manufacturing,” said MGS CEO Paul Manley. “And like Technolution, we achieve our goals with the most important factor, our employees, and nurture a culture of pioneering spirit, enthusiasm and a will to succeed.”

Commenting on the new partnership, Technolution founder and primary shareholder Allan Spork said, “We’re very excited by this opportunity for our company. MGS has already acquired Formteknik, a provider of valuable services from the DFM/ESI to the validated upscale turn-key solution, with whom we have been working closely for more than a decade. Bringing us all together makes our offering uniquely comprehensive.”

For Technolution CEO Thomas Bach Agerslev, the partnership opens new prospects for the company and its stakeholders. “Having multiple providers is inefficient and costly for Pharma and MedTech companies. That’s why they increasingly demand end-to-end solutions from a single supplier such as Technolution and MGS. For customers, this means a more integrated process, smoother collaboration through all phases, and as a result, faster time-to-market.”
